Alexey Cubas was born in 1990 in Media Luna, Cuba. He trained as a visual artist at the Academy of Fine Arts of Oriente, where he completed his studies in 2008. In 2011, he was recognized as a member of the National Registry of Creators of Cuba. In 2014, he emigrated to Switzerland, an experience that profoundly influenced his work and artistic vision.
His painting takes the form of an abstract visual diary: gestural, textural, and emotionally charged. Each series—such as Auf dem Boden, Rutina, or Sin Filtro—stems from his immediate surroundings, his migration history, and his connection to Cuba. Through layers, repetitions, and eroded textures, Alexey transforms the everyday and the personal into a pictorial language.
Since arriving in Switzerland, he has also developed a strong digital presence with his YouTube channel, “Alexey Cubas Videos,” where he documents his life as an artist, migrant, and creator. This platform has allowed him to connect with an international audience, reflecting on art, identity, and territory from an intimate and critical perspective.
Currently, Alexey is the founder and director of AC Tattoo Studio, where he brings his visual language to the field of tattooing. His abstract and intuitive style transcends the graphic conventions of traditional tattooing, prioritizing emotional expression, free gesture, and the connection between body and artwork.
All of her practice—whether on canvas or skin—articulates a vision that combines the visceral with the conceptual. Her work is situated at the intersection of the autobiographical and the universal, between exile and memory, between matter and emotion.
