"I paint for myself"

In this series, created in Switzerland, Alexey Cubas reveals a deeply intimate dimension of his creative process. Feeling that continuing his artistic career in this country was nearly impossible, the artist decided to paint without expectations, without seeking external approval or feedback.

"Ich male für mich" emerges as an act of resistance and radical honesty: each stroke is an affirmation of his existence and his inner freedom. Here, painting ceases to be a means of communicating with the outside world and becomes a space for dialogue with oneself.

In these works there are no concessions or strategies, only the need to create from an authentic and visceral place. They are pieces born without permission, without calculation, without fear. Paintings that exist because they could not not exist.
