Alexey Cubas’ work explores the territory between memory and landscape. Drawing from experiences between Cuba and Switzerland, his paintings do not seek to describe specific places, but rather the emotional traces they leave behind. Through abstraction, gesture, and layered surfaces, he transforms personal experiences into visual environments where memory, atmosphere, and perception converge.
ATELIER
Working from my atelier in the historic center of Zurich.
More than a workspace, the atelier is an environment dedicated to slow looking, reflection, and creation. It is here that ideas take form, evolve, and eventually become part of the artist’s ongoing dialogue with territory, identity, and transformation.
